About the project

About

Fingerprint is a crypto transfer-verification prototype designed to identify suspicious destination changes, lookalike addresses, and recipient mistakes before funds are sent.

Problem

A wallet address can be technically valid while still being the wrong destination.

Because crypto transactions are often irreversible, a minor address mistake or malicious replacement can result in permanent loss.

Key decisions

  • Highlighted visual differences between wallet addresses instead of relying on users to recognise long strings manually.

  • Checked destinations against previously verified or used recipients.

  • Surfaced risk before the irreversible confirmation step.

  • Explained why an address was considered suspicious rather than displaying a generic warning.

  • Allowed users to continue only after the risk and consequences were made explicit.

Outcome

The prototype demonstrates a safer send flow that introduces recipient verification before users confirm an irreversible transaction.
